Katrina Kaif Wore Our Earrings. As an Asian Social Media Intern, This Moment Felt Personal.

It was 4 AM on October 11, and for some reason, I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep. I tried going back to sleep, but like anyone who can't resist checking their phone, I eventually reached for mine and started scrolling through Instagram. 

Little did I know, this random early-morning scroll was about to give me one of the most exciting surprises of my internship. And I'm so glad I did.

While scrolling through stories, I noticed a new story had been posted on Samantha Siu New York's Instagram account. I opened it and saw Katrina Kaif's picture, with Rhea Kapoor tagged and a link to one of our earrings.

Now, imagine me at 4 AM, barely awake, trying to understand what I was looking at.

My first thought was, Wait, why is Katrina Kaif on our Instagram story? And why is our earring product linked to it?

With my eyes still half-open, I hadn't even realized what was happening. So I zoomed in on the picture.

And there they were.

THE BOHEMIAN PARADISE EARRINGS. ON KATRINA KAIF!

Let's just say I was no longer sleepy.

I immediately sat up, looked at the picture again, and the first thing I did was share it in my best friends' WhatsApp group. Because how could I possibly keep this news to myself?

It was Katrina Kaif wearing earrings from the brand I work with!

Growing up in India, Bollywood was always a part of my life. Katrina Kaif is one of those actresses I've grown up watching in movies, advertisements, and beauty campaigns. So seeing her wear a piece from Samantha Siu New York, where I now work as a social media intern, was something I never imagined experiencing this early in my career.

How Our Earrings Found Their Way to Katrina Kaif

On October 9, 2026, Katrina Kaif made an appearance at Space NK in London to celebrate Kay Beauty's first anniversary in the UK.

Behind the scenes, her stylist had reached out to Black PR looking for statement jewelry, specifically chunky, modern gold earrings that would complement her look for the event.

Samantha Siu New York was identified as a strong fit for the brief. A selection of earrings was shared with the stylist, and the pieces were delivered that very same day to accommodate the tight turnaround.

And among those designs were our Bohemian Paradise Earrings, which Katrina ultimately chose to wear.

What I particularly love about these earrings is that they can be styled in three different ways. It's one of the many designs of Samantha Siu that gives you the freedom to create different looks with the same piece of jewelry.

Working in social media, I'm used to seeing our jewelry through product photography, campaign shoots, and the content we create every day. But seeing those same designs styled on someone I've admired for years was an entirely different experience.

And I have to say, Katrina looked absolutely stunning in them!

Why This Moment Meant So Much to Me

When you work behind the scenes for a brand, you become familiar with the amount of thought that goes into every detail. From choosing the right images to creating content that communicates the story behind a collection, there is always something happening that customers don't necessarily get to see.

As a social media intern, I'm still learning about the luxury industry, how brands build relationships, and how the right piece of jewelry can become part of a much bigger story.

What made this moment special was seeing two worlds come together. On one side was an actress I grew up watching in India. On the other was a New York jewelry brand that I now get to contribute to.

And somehow, a pair of earrings connected the two.

It also made me think about how far a design can travel. From Samantha Siu New York's collection to a stylist's selection in London, and finally to being worn by one of Bollywood's most recognized actresses.

That's quite a journey for one pair of earrings.

When Two Worlds Unexpectedly Collide

Celebrity placements are exciting for any fashion or jewelry brand, but I think what makes them memorable is the story behind them.

For Samantha Siu New York, it was an opportunity to showcase our designs on an internationally recognized actress at a major beauty event.

For me, it was a reminder of why I wanted to work in marketing and fashion in the first place. I love how storytelling, creativity, and culture can come together in unexpected ways.

And while I know there will be many more exciting moments ahead, this one will always stand out.

Because it's not every day that you wake up at 4 AM, casually open Instagram, and discover that Katrina Kaif is wearing the very earrings you've been creating content for.

Who knew that waking up at 4 AM would turn into one of my favorite memories from this internship?
